Historic Homesteads, LLC Launches Our Website Connecting Buyers and Sellers of Historic Homes - Released on April 27, 2005

BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 27, 2005 - Combine a love of historic homes, a career in real estate, and experience managing Internet start-ups, and you get Historic Homesteads, LLC (http://www.historichomesteads.com). The company, founded earlier this month by Manhattan real estate broker Steven Thomas Plac, is celebrating its official launch by giving away 200 free listings on HistoricHomesteads.com.

In keeping with Plac's passion for historic architecture, Historic Homesteads is committed to donating a portion of every listing fee toward historic preservation all across America.

"Historic Homesteads is the link to buying and selling historic homes throughout the country," stated Plac. "We connect independent sellers, preservationists and real estate agents to buyers who want and love historic homes."

Owners of homes built in 1950 or earlier can list their properties on HistoricHomesteads.com for three months at a time. Package prices start at $50 per three-month period and include up to ten color photos at no extra cost; some include placement on the HistoricHomesteads.com home page as featured listings and receive customized yard signs in the mail. Thanks to the site's account-based structure, sellers can manage multiple listings at once, and all information is protected by secure socket layer (SSL) technology through digital certificate provider GeoTrust.

Buyers looking for historic homes can search through an average of 400 listings by region, state, architectural style, price range and other criteria. Those interested in a particular home can contact the seller confidentially through HistoricHomesteads.com. Aside from the seller's listing fees, Historic Homesteads never charges a commission on the sale of any home.

To acquire more listings for buyers and to give sellers' historical homes greater visibility, Historic Homesteads is running an aggressive advertising campaign in national publications, including This Old House, Fine Homebuilding and Preservation Magazine. But along with connecting buyers and sellers of historic homes, HistoricHomesteads.com provides a comprehensive list of historical resources on the state and national levels in all 50 states.

"Our goal is to offer buyers and sellers the premier marketplace for historic real estate while promoting awareness and preservation of our nation's history," Plac explained. "There are many homeowners and prospective buyers out there who want something more than a neighborhood full of identical, brand-new houses, and they can find it at HistoricHomesteads.com."
